Mr. James Thomas Northcutt age 89 of McMinnville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at N.H.C. HealthCare. He was born October 06, 1931, in McMinnville, TN, and worked as a maintenance supervisor with the McMinnville Housing Authority. He was a member of the Oakland Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years. He was always Oakland’s “Mr. Fix It”. James loved church and his church family. He was a farmer, enjoyed his cows, and loved raising a garden. He was an active member of the Newtown CIC for years, always cooking the hamburgers for the ball games.
James married Mildred Evelyn Laws in 1952, sharing 62 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2014. Mr. Northcutt was also preceded in death by his parents Thurman Lee and Georgia Mae Reynolds Northcutt, and his sisters Brenda Smoot and Hazel Starkey
James is survived by his daughters Sherry (Bruce) Griffith and Angie (Mark) Saylors, grandchildren Benjie (Kristy) Griffith, Kayla Griffith, Zack Saylors and fiancé Erika Tate, and Ali (David) Darnell, and great grandchildren Lorelei Griffith, Turner Griffith, Amelia Griffith, Dax Darnell, and sister Dorothy Brown, brothers Bobby (Mary) Northcutt and William Northcutt, .
Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 26, 2020 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bob Deason will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service on Saturday in the chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home. Social distancing and the wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged.
