Larry Gene Hicks, age 74 of Athens died Friday at his residence.
Mr. Hicks was born October 19, 1946 in Limestone County. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Athens where he taught a  Couples  Sunday School class for many years. He was currently on staff at First Baptist as the Senior Adult Minister. Mr. Hicks was an avid Alabama football fan as well as a Star Trek fan.  Mr. Hicks was a retired operator from Monsanto of Decatur. One of his greatest hobbies was that of history,  especially genealogy.
Survivors, Son, Wayne (Debbie) Hicks of Alex City, Alabama.
Daughter, Susan (Thomas) Killen of Athens.
Grandchildren, Chris (Zoe) Hicks, Lauren Hicks, and Alex Killen.
Brother, Chris (Debbie) Hicks of Opelika.
Sister, Sherry (Tim) Anderson of Athens.
Sister In Law, Elaine Watson of Athens.
Several Nieces and Nephews.
Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his Parents, S.C. and Helen Hicks.
Wife, Linda Watson Hicks.
Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic, all services will be private, but may be viewed at a later date on First Baptist Church, Athens website.
Those who will serve as pallbearers are. J.V. McCune, Gary McBay, Tim Anderson, Chris Hicks and Alex Killen.
