Ron Baker Nesmith, age 79 of Sumiton, passed away on Wednesday December 9, 2020. He was a former National Union Officer for APWU at USPS retired. He was a former National Business Agent at APWU – The American Postal Workers Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elva Nesmith; daughter, Leann Ashworth; grandson, Brett Upchurch and brother-in-law, Gary Mims.
Survivors include his wife of 46 ½ years, Janice B. Nesmith; children, Dennis Nesmith (Rhonda), Karen Poe (Jeff) and Catrina Black (Roger); grandchildren, Brittany Teeter (Andrew), Dalton Nesmith, Hannah Nesmith, Kirsten Ashworth, Austin Black and Erin Black; great grandchildren, Cooper and Caroliine Teeter; sister, Sidney Faye Mims; several other relatives and a host of friends.
Graveside service and interment will be held on Friday December 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Rev. Lewis Smith will officiate. There will be no public visitation prior to the service.
