Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Hamlet Prestridge, age 79, of Lineville were held Thursday December 3, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Lineville, with Rev. Mike Hanners and Rev. Shirley Meddick officiating.
Mrs. Prestridge passed away Friday November 27, 2020 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. She was a native of Tallapoosa County, a former resident of Roanoke but had lived in Clay County since 1960. Mrs. Prestridge graduated from Newsite High School Class of 1959 as Valedictorian and later attended Southern Union State Community College where she attained her Associate’s Degree in Business Management. She worked for several years with Russell Corporation as receiving clerk and also Russell Medical Center in Alexander City as the Record Clerk until her retirement in 2018. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Victor Prestridge of Lineville, plus extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents James Coldin Hamlet and Julia Lucille Day, her husband, Leonard Prestridge, one infant son, James Colvin Prestridge, one daughter, Tina Gene Prestridge, and one sister, Dorothy Lee Harry.
Active Pallbearers were Bruce Harry, Alan Harry, Jeff Long, Johnny McVey, Steve Hanners and Brandon Stephens.
