James Howard Cornelius, age 95 of Jasper, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Shadescrest Nursing Home.

He was born July 22, 1925 in Parrish, Alabama.  He was a 1943 graduate of Walker County High School, after graduation he joined the U.S. Maritime Service and spent 3 years in the Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean war zones and later the US Army.  He retired from Alabama Power with 44 years of service and was a 68 year member of the (I.B.E.W.) International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers L.U. 833.  He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be Friday, December 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Rev. Howard Thompson will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his Wife of 57 years-Jean W. Cornelius; Daughter-Jean Ann Argo; Father-Robert F. Cornelius; Mother-Celia Laird Cornelius; Sisters-Laura Nell Scott and Peggy Thompson; Granddaughter-Jessica Lauren Argo.

He is survived by his Son-Jim Cornelius (Dianne); Grandchildren-Christi Ballard (Curt), Jamie Warmack (Josh), Rebekah Shaaban (Islam) and Charles Argo; 6 Great Grandchildren; and Many other nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to New Prospect Baptist Church.
