Mattie Louise South – Obituary

Mattie Louise South passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 20, 1926, in Sumter County, Ala. She was a faithful member of Pine Hill Church of Christ for many years. She retired in 1998 from Angelica Manufacturing Company in Collinwood, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah South; parents, James and Essie Hale; infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann; grandsons, William South Jr. and Tristan South; sister, Lorrina Gann; brothers, Leon, Jim and Sam Hale.
Survivors include her sons, Charlie (Sharon), William (Carolyn), Earl, David (Wanda) and Keith (Melissa) South; daughters, Mary Cox (Jimmy), Shelby Myhan (Larry) and Jewel Landrum (Charles); brothers, W.C. Hale (Ruby) and John Hale (Wanda); sisters Collista Lee, Bettie Broughton, and Nettie Ruth Barnett; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Pine Hill Church of Christ from 1-3 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Brother Howard Rogers and Brother Arvil Curtis officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Church Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Dr. Felix Morris, and Dr. John Reinke for their special care. Also to the nurses that gave extra special love and care.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
