Larry Dean Pogue, age 71 of Estill Springs, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on October 25, 1949 to the late Paul and Eula (Hinshaw) Pogue. Larry served and retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant Vietnam Veteran, a career which he deeply loved. In his lifetime, he went from cotton picking to working on jet engines and train transmissions. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed cheering for the Atlanta Braves, eating good food (especially lobster), and had coached several Little League Baseball teams. Larry will be remembered for his very giving and generous nature. He truly lived his life by God’s word that encourages us not to store our treasures, as he gave what he had to anyone that was in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Wesley Pogue, Joyce Pogue, and Wayne Pogue. Larry is survived by his wife, Kaye Mason Pogue of Georgia; children, Shaun (Amy) Pogue, Melinda Pogue, and Chris Pogue; siblings Nancy Pogue, Carolyn Beaver, and Billy Pogue; nephew, Chris Hopkins; niece, Stacy Phillips and Sherry Regan; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
