Lloyd “Wayne” Stoops, Jr., 81, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2020 at Madison

Hospital. Wayne was born March 14, 1939, in Lucas, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Grethal (Garrett) Stoops.

Wayne served proudly in the Air National Guard for several years; he was later employed as an
electrician, and culminated his career at the Limestone Correctional Facility from where he retired in 2008.

Wayne grew up in Shiloh, Ohio; although he lived in many places throughout his life, his hometown held many fond memories that he frequently recalled with his family. Wayne was an avid self-taught guitar player, he proudly displayed his instruments and was often referred to in his hometown as the “Chet Atkins of Shiloh”. He played in several bands throughout his youth and shared sessions with his brothers always looking to improve his craft.

Wayne loved his family, and enjoyed sharing memories from his youth and younger years. His stories always captured the room’s attention and brought lots of laughter. He enjoyed spending time tending
to his many plants and flowers, and birdwatching from the back patio while sharing morning coffee with
his loving wife, Fran.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances (Bedwell) Stoops; a son, Lloyd “Wayne” Stoops III (Misty and Nadia) of Madison, AL; a daughter, Tracey Scott (Mike) of Madison, AL; a brother, Richard Stoops of Crestline, OH; a sister, Susan Colvin (Jack) of Ashland; two sister-in-laws, Veronica O’Keefe and Sheryl Stoops; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Gary Stoops, James D. O’Keefe, and Archie Stoops.
