Shelby Gene Roberts, age 79, of Sulligent, AL passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 1:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Bro. Glenn Hughes to officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 12:00pm until 1:00pm.

Shelby was born on May 26, 1941 in Lamar County, AL to the late Lonnie E. Roberts and the late Esther Pearl Underwood. He was a 1961 graduate of Sulligent High School where he played basketball and football. Shelby previously worked at NACCO and Kellogg Company in Memphis, TN. He coached in youth football and baseball and achieved recognition and honors in the Lamar County High School Football Hall of Fame and Allstate Football in 1961. Shelby enjoyed fishing and raising cattle. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
