Timothy Gilligan, 62, of Florence passed away on October 21, 2020. Timothy was born in Dorchester, MA to Thomas P and Kathryn Gilligan. As an adolescent and young adult he was a classically trained concert pianist, had several CDs, and played at Carnegie Hall in New York. Afterwards, he became a performing artist agent for several years in NYC and then worked directly for the Beatles producer, George Martin of Apple Records. He was hired by Apple Records for classical music expansion and later to supervise the rebuilding of George Martin’s recording studio on the island of Montserrat. Unfortunately, after rebuilding had been completed a massive volcanic eruption destroyed the studio again. Tim returned to the US and began teaching music at college level along with becoming a Music Professor and Piano Teacher at UNA.

Tim is survived by his brother, Tom Gilligan (Peggy); nephew, Breden P Gilligan, MD (Nicole); niece, Meghan E Cummings (Mike); grand-nieces, Lylah and Arden Gilligan, Caitlin, Mackenzie, and Emily Cummings.

Tim was preceded by his parents, Thomas P and Kathryn Gilligan.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tim’s Cadre of Alabama friends; who welcomed him to the area and provided social support.

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Gilligan on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at Elkins Funeral Home.

Arrangements were entrusted to Elkins Funeral Home.
