Funeral services for Mr. Alan Denney, age 58 of Ashland, will be on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Bro. Kenneth Fuller, Bro. Tim Tipton and Rev. Craig McClure officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens. Due to the current COVID-19 public health mandate, masks will be required for those attending the services and we ask that social distancing be practiced as much as possible.
Mr. Denney passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at UAB Hospital. A lifelong resident of Clay County, he was a graduate of Mellow Valley High school class of 1980. Mr. Alan was a hard worker all of his life. He worked as a truck driver for many years before working in the truck shop at Wellborn Cabinets. Mr. Denney worked his way up the ladder, learning many jobs in logistics and spent over 25 years with the Wellborn Cabinet Company. He was a cattle farmer that loved his cows and spending time with them. He enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR races and Alabama football games. Family was number one to Mr. Alan; he was a loving husband, deddy and pawpaw that will be truly missed. He was a proud member of Masonic Lodge #356 F & AM, as well as a member of Mt. Caramel Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Denney; three daughters: Kristi Duke (Brian), Misti Karr (Justin) all of Ashland, and Brittney Gambrell (Chris) of Coldwater; his son, Dionar “D” Fuentes of Ashland; his sister, Donna Ashbrook (Steven) of Panama City, FL; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norward Kenneth Denney and Sylvia Elizabeth Moore Denney; and his brother, Tony Denney.
Active pallbearers will be: Ryan Poe, Cory Fuller, Ronald Fuentes, Jamie Ferguson, Joey Loveless and Tony Kerr.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Johnny Mac Brown, Jason Denney and Wayne Glenn.
Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.
