Graveside service for Janie Mae Fitzgerald Holmes age 99 of Falkville will be Monday, October 5, 2020 at 1:00pm at Piney Grove Cemetery in Falkville with Brother Phillip Gilbert and Brother Clint Lee officiating with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will have a time of visiting after the service on Monday.
Mrs. Holmes, who was born January 25, 1921 in Morgan County to Frank Wood Fitzgerald and Bertie Cornelia Almon Fitzgerald, died on Friday, October 2, 2020 at her home. She was a member of the Cedar Plains Christian Church, loved gardening, flowers and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett O. Holmes; a son, Joey Holmes; brothers, Frank Almon Fitzgerald, Robert Henry Fitzgerald, Jesse Ashton Fitzgerald, Patrick Dale Fitzgerald; sisters, Lucy Laney, Frances Laney and Bertie Ferrell.
She is survived by 3 sons, Allen Holmes (Jan), Gerry Holmes (Linda), Greg Holmes (Pam);
2 daughters, Linda Alldredge (Dwight) and Debbie Cumings; a daughter-in-law, Lasanna Holmes and a sister, Leah Oakley; 17 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren
Mike Holmes, Rodney Holmes, Jeff Holmes, Todd Irwin, Jackson Holmes, Thomas Alexander, Bryson Parker and Riley Irwin will serve as Pallbearers
