Mrs. Winnie Mae Blanks Stiles age 101 of McMinnville, TN, was born October 08, 1918, and died September 12, 2020, after several years of declining health.
A homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late James Martin and Betty Cottar Blanks. She was married for 63 years to Houston Stiles, a well-known gospel preacher who passed away in 2004. As a preacher’s wife, she taught Bible classes and provided meals for many gospel preachers who conducted Gospel Meetings in this area. She also enjoyed flower gardening and sewing with a special interest in piecing quilts. One of her quilts is an original design heart family tree.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Noel, Walt D., Lester, James, and Clarence Blanks, five sisters Etoil Mingle, Elsie Davenport, Belle Young, Martha Maxwell, and Mildred Biles, and two sisters-in-law Beatrice Smith and Pearl Vickers.
Survivors include one daughter Phyllis (Barton) Todd, of McMinnville, TN, one son David (Glenda) Stiles of Rockvale, TN, three grandchildren, Gloria Todd of McMinnville, Natasha (Keith) Kinkade of Murfreesboro, and Derrick (Heather) Stiles of McMinnville; one great-grandson, Joseph Stiles. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services and interment will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Mt. View Cemetery. Derrick Stiles and Bobby Moore will officiate. The Stiles Family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and again Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
