Brian O’neal Jackson passed on September 7, 2020. He was born on April 13, 1948. His mother was the late Ethel Raye Jackson of Sheffield. His father was the late Eddie Winston of Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Brian Jackson was predeceased by his mother Ethel Raye Jackson (Avery) and his grandmother and grandfather Lillie Mae and Edward Jackson.
Brian professed Jesus Christ as his personal Savior during the annual August Revival of the First Missionay Baptist Church of Sheffield at the age of twelve years old, in 1960. He was baptised by the Rev. J. C. Yarborough and became a member of the FMBC.
Brian graduated from the Sterling High School of Sheffield with the class of 1966. He was immediately drafted into the United States Army after graduating from high school. He spent a two year tour in Germany. After which, he was honorably discharged from the army.
Brian subsequently worked for the Sheffield Refuse and Reclamation Center as a refuse technician for some years. He then because a refuse truck driver for many years. After retiring from SRRC on disability, Brian became a yard technician and was gainfully employed as a grass cutter and flower bed technician for many years.
During his mother’s illness and subsequent passing in 2016, Brian remained dedicated as her primary health care giver.
He had a deep sense of caring for others which he exhibited to all whom he associated with. He displayed steadfast caring and concern for others throughout his life.
He leaves to mourn his passing: a daughter Sonia (Jackson) of Florence; a son Zachery Jackson of Sheffield; and a goddaughter Tammie Green Giles of Altanta, Georgia; a brother Rev. Ivan J. Jackson and his wife Rev. Minnie Jackson; and a brother Darrell Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia and Carrolotta Jackson.
Funeral plans are incomplete at this time and pending.
