Jewel Dean Nagle, age 82, of Russellville, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020.
Jewel Dean Taylor was born on Friday, April 01, 1938 near Frankfort, Alabama. She was the youngest of seven children, born to D. Allen & Ester (Rickard) Taylor. She attended school at Mars Hill, Crooked Oak, and Belgreen. She was raised on cotton farms so she knew the value of hard work, which she applied to everyday life. She was a good seamstress and made baby clothes for family and friends. Her special talent was baby dresses. She was also a great cook, and her specialty was biscuits. She was a good gardener, especially in roses. At one time, she had 75-80 roses that people near and far came to admire. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. Jewel could also fish and enjoyed fishing with her husband, Roy. Together, she and Roy caught literally thousands of croppies on Cedar Creek Lake.
Jewel was a member of the Church of Christ. She tried to live her life as a Christian. Now she has gone to her eternal rest. Jewel fought gallantly against small cell lung cancer for nine months but just could not beat it. The cancer had too much of a head start.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, D. Allen & Ester Taylor; sisters, Stella Taylor and Lurlie Dill; brothers, Odie, Delmar, Hershal, and Lawrence Taylor; and great-grandson, Aiden Bundy.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 62 years, Roy S. Nagle; son, Roy N. Nagle (Patty); daughter, Valerie Tittle (Danny); sister, Fronia Horton (Reece); brother, Bob Taylor; grandchildren, Dawn Hall – Bundy (Scotty), Dana Hall, Patrick Nagle (Kaitlyn), Kaymon Taylor (Lauren Ashley); great-grandsons, Greyson & Xavier Bundy, Rylind Taylor; three step-grandchildren, Whitney Petty (Chris), Kyle Moody, Tanner Moody (Savanna); five step-great-grandchildren, Brodie Donaldson, Emory Petty, Carson Petty, Weston Petty, Stetson Moody; sisters-in-law, Mary Nell McWilliams, Corine Taylor; and many nieces & nephews.
Jewel always put others first, even in death. Her final wish was not to have a large funeral so her family and friends are not exposed to COVID-19. The family asks in lieu of food and flowers, please consider making a donation in Jewel’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Gravel Hill Cemetery (Cty Rd 56, Mountain Star Community). The service will be officiated by Bro. Daniel Parrish. Due to COVID, the family asks that you wear a mask and maintain social distance at the graveside.
