Sue S Kratsch
October 27, 1932 – August 14, 2020
Sue passed peacefully in her home Friday, August 14th, 2020, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. A Guntersville, AL native, Sue was born on October 27th, 1932. She was the daughter of Alton and Alma Starnes, and the youngest of four, preceded by her brothers James, Paul, and Louie. In 1958, Sue was married to Charles Henry “Chuck” Kratsch in Guntersville, AL before moving to Huntsville, AL. Sue and Chuck were stationed in Alaska, Maryland, Georgia, and South Carolina before returning to Huntsville to raise their three children, Susan, Patsy, and Chris.
Sue’s family was the love of her life. Her limitless love and patience are the defining characteristics her children and eight grandchildren remember most. Her huge heart was to blame for her sweet habit of rescuing animals and litany of pets. Sue’s inability to hurt a fly, along with her tendency to live in the present, and perpetual happiness touched everyone she knew. She was loved equally as strongly by her family, whose memories are filled with her infamous turtle necks, red lipstick, enthusiasm for country music, two-footed driving, and convertible rides. An endless supply of Tab, smells of brown-sugar toast, the sounds of gameshows, and the comfort of her loving embrace linger in the minds of her family as they remember “Grandmoo”/”Grandma”/”Gramps”.
A private service will be held by Sue’s family, and she will be laid to rest in her home town of Guntersville. In honor of her memory, please donate to your local Humane Society.
