John F. “Jack” Eck Sr., age 68, of Clayton, NC died Dec. 5, 2012,
after a seven year battle with cancer. He was born on Jan 7, 1944 in
Port Arthur, Texas to the late Bernard H. Eck and wife Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife Carol of forty-seven years, his daughter
Stephanie Brooks and husband Kurt, grandchildren Nicole and Scott
Brooks, his daughter Christine Carlson and husband Jeff, and his son
John Eck, Jr. and wife Bonnie. Also, his mother, Elizabeth Warder,
sister Peg Heise and husband Ed.

He retired after 35 years of government service in the Department of
Defense where he was a Program Manager and Industrial Engineer.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at church.
He was a true “Jack” of all trades who enjoyed raising a garden, his
tractor, and doing house projects of any kind. He also played tennis
and coached soccer.

Visitation will be Thursday Dec. 13, 2012 from 6 – 7 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home with the Rosary at 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be at St. Michaels Catholic Church in St.
Florian on Friday Dec 14, 2012 at 11 am. Officiating will be Father Edward Markley, O.S.B. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery with military funeral honors accorded at graveside.
