Verna Brennen
On Election Day, I would appreciate your vote for Sheffield City Council, District 5. I am retired and have time to devote to being your council person.
Due to Covid 19, I will not be knocking on doors, I hope you will understand as we are living in some unusual times. I have lived and worked in Sheffield for 42 plus years. I would like to lend my business experience to see Sheffield grow and development.
Before retirement, I was the Vice President and then President of L & L Services, Inc. which developed and operated Park Place. Other companies owned by L & L Services were Foodland Stores, Greenview Memorial Park, Colbert Memorial Gardens, The Courier Journal and Metro Communication Services. When Mr. Love passed, I was one of the executors of his estate. At the time of his death, we operated 25 grocery stores and 5 mini marts. As well as the various other business interests, approximately 1200 persons were employed by the various corporations.
I have served on several boards representing Sheffield. They are:
Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau, Sheffield Redevelopment Board, Sheffield Education Foundation Board, Sheffield Port Authority, Colbert County Historical Board, Tennessee Valley Art Association and Easter Seals of N W Alabama.
I am a member of Sheffield Kiwanis Club, Chief Colbert Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of American Colonists and Magna Charta Dames and Barons. I have served as a state officer and on the Boards of Directors for these organizations.
I am honest and hard working. I promise to represent you to the best of my abilities.
