Hobert Worn Dollar, age 90 of Athens died Saturday at his residence.

Services will be 3 pm Tuesday at Spry Funeral Home with James Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation Monday from 6-9 pm at Spry Funeral Home.

Mr. Dollar was born June 10, 1930 in Limestone County. He retired from the city of Athens Street Department in 1992, and then worked until 2013 with daughter Kathy and son-in-law Jerry Owens with a lawn mower service.

Mr. Dollar loved his family, children, grandchildren and then great grandchildren. No one ever left his home without him asking ‘Why don’t you just stay all day and stay the night’, and then he would tell you to ‘be careful’.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Walter and Rosie Ann Dollar, six brothers. Alvie, Ed, Alton, Estel, Elston, and three sisters. Idell Dollar, Ozell McKinney, and Mable Dollar. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Jane Dollar and daughter Kathy Owens.

Survivors are two daughters, Gloria Fergus of Elkmont. and Sharon Dollar of Athens. Three sons, Danny (Patsy) Dollar and Steve Dollar of Athens. Randy (Debi) Dollar of Vinemont, AL. Son -In-Law, Jerry (Larue) Owens of Madison. Grandchildren, Brandi (Jesse) Holladay of Sumter, SC. Kim Muse, Jennifer Smith, Lori McMunn, April Dollar, and Nick Ray all of Athens. Great Grandchildren, Bailey McMunn, Maggie Smith, Aaron Ray, Ellie Ray and Jaiden Dollar all of Athens. Audrey, Evie and Hattie Holladay of Sumter, SC. He is also survived by numerous step Grandchildren and step Great Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Grandsons in laws.
