Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. Chester Steven Coats, age 63 of Murfreesboro. Mr. Coats passed away June 29, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro. A native of Louisville, KY he was a very loyal and devoted Kentucky Wildcat Fan, avidly following their basketball team. He was a member of the Pentecostals of Smyrna United Pentecostal Church. Most of his working career was spent working in private security and in his spare time he enjoyed Guardian of the Galaxy movies. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rita Cooper Coats and his father, Chester L. Coats. He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing, his wife of 26 years, Carmen Miranda Coats of Murfreesboro; daughters, Amelia (Shea) Brooks of Christiana, TN and Stephanie Coats of Murfreesboro; son, Jim Coats of Murfreesboro; brother, Gary Coats of Indiana. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. Thursday July 2, 2020 at the Pentecostals of Smyrna United Pentecostal Church, 1301 Plaza Dr., Smyrna, TN 37167. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday July 3, 2020 at the Pentecostals of Smyrna United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Carlos Sadler officiating.
