Okley Verron Shelton, of Hanceville passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the age of 81. Mr. Shelton was a member and deacon at Shelton Grove Baptist Church. He worked at Winn Dixie until 1982 when he retired. He later worked for Cullman County Board of Education as a bus driver at Cold Springs and retired after 20 years of service. He was a farmer and spent his retirement working on his farm. He was preceded in death by his parents: Talvin and Nelladeen Pitts Shelton; son-in-law, Kenneth Heaton and brothers-in-law: Bobby Bolzle and Eddie Dodson. His survivors include his wife of 61 years, Merle Carlisle Shelton; daughters: Darlene (Lenn) Trimble, Ginger Shelton and Cheryl Heaton; son, Lawrence Shelton; sisters: Enell (Charles) Baker and Thersie Bolzle; grandchildren: Michael (Andrea) Trimble, Seth Trimble, Diana (Russell) Coleman and Daniel Shelton; 4 great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Moss Service Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be in the chapel of Moss Service Funeral Home on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Shelton Grove Cemetery.
