Edgar “Lecil” Wylie, 80, from Courtland, originally of Cordova, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, at his residence. There will be a graveside service Saturday, June 20, 2020, 10 a.m. at Walker Memory Gardens. Summer attire is encouraged. William Tittle will officiate. Edgar L. Wylie had 28 years of service as a Colonel in the United States Army. He had military education in U.S. Army Command and General Staff College from 1977-1978 and Air War College from 1984-1985. His civilian education was a B.S. in Chemistry from UNA and M.S. in Counseling from Troy State University. Edgar’s most notable awards was a Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal and Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with 3 stars just to name a few. His hobbies included jogging, cooking, singing, hunting, fishing, charming, and sports. His last assignment he was in the 1st Bn, 51st Air defense Artillery Battalion (Chapparal/Vulcan). He was also a life long member of the Church of Christ. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel Wylie and brother, Paul Wylie. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Wylie; daughters, Melissa Rampey and Jennifer Brass, and daughters of A. Louise Carson; brother, George Milton Wylie, and grandchildren; Alexander Brass and Jessica Brass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Indian Creek Youth Camp or a children’s charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Mark Wylie, John Wylie, Jeff Burroughs, Cameron Boyd, Jake Ellis, and Landon Wylie.
