Mr. Billy Joe Strain, age 88, of Dora passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Grandview Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Christway Church of God in Gardendale with burial in McCormick Cemetery. Pastor Donnie Sanders will officiate. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Strain was born in Walker County. He married his wife, Jane on April 11, 1958. He was an army veteran, who actively served in the Korean War. He retired from Alabama Department of Transportation, and worked many years at International Harvest. He was a member of Christway Church of God.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Pearl Strain; and sister, Emogene Sellers.
Survivors include his wife, Jane M. Strain; son, Mark Strain (Robbie); daughter, Jill Lowe (Michael); grandchildren, Ryan McCullough (Liz), Erin Strain Ponds (Brandon), and Alex Cook; and a host of nieces and nephews.
