Joyce Nunley Worley, 90, of Birmingham, passed away Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thomas Worley. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Wright and her husband, Roy; son, Tom Worley and his wife, Kay; grandson, Ingram Worley and his wife, Jennie; granddaughter, Millie Ronnlund and her husband, Robby; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Graham Worley and Adelaide and Rhett Ronnlund, all of Birmingham; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce retired from the US Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal in 1988. Known affectionately to her family as Grandmona, she was a devoted wife and mother who tirelessly cared for her husband during his long illness. A sincere lady committed to helping others, she supported the people around her with everything from rides to the doctor to volunteering to call Bingo. Quick to laugh, she never hesitated to share her honest thoughts and made friends everywhere she went. Her practical, down-to-earth wisdom and wit will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her. Joyce’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staffs of Affinity Hospice and the Oaks on Parkwood for the love and kindness they showed her.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 11th, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens with the Rev. David Kling officiating. (www.laughlinservice.com)
