In all of his 89 years, Joseph B. Wright never met a stranger. It didn’t matter if you just met, or were old friends, you were instantly engaged in conversation with him. He was never happier than when he was sitting around the dinner table with friends and family sharing stories with plenty of laughter sprinkled in.
After a fall in March, resulting in a broken hip, he was unable to recover from complications. Joseph, a loving husband of 68 years, father of five children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, peacefully passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, June 7, 2020, at his home surrounded by his beloved family.
Joe was born, August 31, 1930 in Southampton, Long Island, New York. His parents raised him to be the hard working, strong family man that he was proud to be. Farm life in his early years showed him that he had the ability to do anything he set his mind to. He moved from farming to running three businesses, but he never lost his love for a John Deer tractor.
He loved it when his house was filled with his children and their many friends. They always knew they were welcomed and loved. To all of this he would beam and say, “That’s what your Mother and I wanted”. The things we will most remember about JB is the way that he loved his wife, family and friends. He was our hero. And because of him, we are all better people.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Janet Warner Wright; five children, Martin Wright (Sheila), Amanda Morris (Douglas), Abigail Mason (Gary), Clayton Wright (Deborah), Kevin Wright (Elise).
There will not be a service planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to your favorite animal rescue shelter.
