Mrs. Ernestine T. King, age 91, of Arab, Alabama passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at her residence.
Mrs. King was born on September 25, 1928 in Union Grove, Alabama to Ollie Thomas & Maude Stone Thomas. She was a member of the Arab Mother’s Club #2, where she served as president, the Red Hatters, and volunteered for many years at Marshall Medical Center. She retired from Redstone Arsenal where she had worked many years. Mrs. King was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. King is survived by her son, Steve (Sherri) King; daughter, Ann Garcia; grandchildren, Mitch (Mary) King, Chase (Julia) King, Alex (Kris) Anderson, Avery King; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild; brothers, Charles (Betty) Thomas, Wilburn (Margie) Thomas, Rayburn (Doris) Thomas; special personal assistant, Jo Maze. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Quinton Hoppy King; brothers, Joe Thomas, Donald Thomas, Winston Thomas; sister, Allene King.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Jamey Pruitt officiating and burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
The family will accept friends at the church prior to the service on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will include, Mitch King, Chase King, Lathan King, Billy King, Richard Maze & T.J. Harris.
