MUSCLE SHOALS-On Friday, May 15 Northwest-Shoals Community College President Glenda Colagross, along with Director of Nursing Education Brittney Humphres spoke briefly, as well as four representatives of the two nursing programs, Colton Cain, Ashlyn Pounders, Kimberly Brooks and Brittni Moody welcoming the newest of nurses to the Shoals as Northwest-Shoals Community College made history with the first ever drive-through pinning ceremony.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic Governor Kay Ivey issued a “Safer at Home” order which required social distancing for larger crowds.

Graduates drove their vehicles to the pinning area…stepped from their vehicle and were pinned before reentering their vehicle as the next new nurse drove forward and continued the ceremony.

NWSCC officials said the symbolic ceremony dating by to London in the 1860s was not a necessity but the new graduates deserved the respect.
