Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy D. Caldwell, age 76 of Wadley, was held on Monday, May 11, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Gilead Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Brand officiating.
Mr. Caldwell passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the East Alabama Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Clay and Randolph County, he was a graduate of Mellow Valley High school. He worked for Uniroyal Tire Company for over 28 years. After retirement, Mr. Caldwell worked security at Southern Union State Community College and Wellborn Cabinets. He enjoyed collecting antiques and going to yard sales. Mr. Caldwell loved animals and served as the Wadley Police Chief. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wadley.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Caldwell of Wadley; his daughter, Jerri Gullion of Albertville; his son, Jeffrey Caldwell of Wadley; three sisters: Wynell Waldrep of Wadley; Joyce Foreman (Billy Ray) of Newsite; and Wiladean Hilyer of Wadley; two grandchildren: Daniel Gullion (Erin) and Krista Allcorn (Joey); and two great-grandchildren: Silas Floyd and Cohen Gullion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Burlon Caldwell and Eunice Kellum Caldwell; six sisters and two brothers.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
