Pollyanna Featherston Maybrey, born on January 6, 1929 and entered into eternity on May 5, 2020. She was the daughter of Clem and Pearl Featherston of the Oak Grove community and a lifelong educator spending over 20 years in education with most of it in the Franklin County school system.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Pearl Featherston; her brother, Douglas Featherston; her sister, Ella Louise Featherston; and her husband Clif Maybrey.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Tammy) Maybrey of Hot Springs, AR., and John Maybrey of Oak Grove; five grandchildren, Kelsey Maybrey of Oak Grove, Christian Maybrey of Hot Springs, Caleb Maybrey of Oak Grove, and Savannah Maybrey and Benjamin Maybrey of Hot Springs.
Pollyanna was a graduate of University of Chattanooga and Vanderbilt. She became a Spanish teacher at Franklin County High School and loved teaching the students and enjoyed taking many students on trips to Mexico. She was the founder of the Franklin County Christian Memorial Scholarship to assist students in Franklin County in pursuing their education to the next level.
Pollyanna was a longtime member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ, very active in the church during her life, and remained close to everyone in church and in Oak Grove.
Visitation hours with the family will be on Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 PM at Moore Cortner Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow in the Featherston Cemetery in the Oak Grove Community at 3:30 PM. The register book and memorial cards will be available under the carport of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home during visitation. An attendant will be available to assist you. The family would like to thank the staff of the Green Oaks Inn of Florence, AL. and the staff of the Montgomery County Nursing Home in Mt. Ida, AR for the great & compassionate care given to their Mom over the last few years.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, all donations please be made to the Franklin County Christian Memorial Scholarship Fund to continue her legacy of furthering education for the students of beloved Franklin County.
