Raymond Renegar passed from this earthly home to his home in Heaven on Wednesday, May 6th. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Norma Jean Humphrey Renegar; his mother, Flossie Walker; and his brother, Jack Renegar.

Raymond grew up in the Lincoln Mill Village. It was there that he met the love of his life, Norma Jean. They married and raised their family in the Riverton/Buckhorn community. Both were very active in the community, serving in leadership positions in the schools’ PTA. Raymond coached numerous YMCA and church league sports teams.

Retiring from TVA’s Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in December of 1994, Raymond was an electrician and excellent craftsman. He was a proud 67 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 558.

Raymond was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meridianville. During his time there and other churches, he served as a deacon, teacher, choir member, and Vacation Bible School worker.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Kilpatrick and husband, Glen of Huntsville, AL; his sons, Mark Renegar and wife, Marie of Cape Coral, FL and Steve Renegar and wife, Janice of Flintville, TN. His four grandchildren, Kelli Grissom and husband, Brad of Petersburg, TN; Emily Austin and husband, Josh of Huntsville, AL; Taylor Renegar and Tanner Renegar, both of Cape Coral, FL. His three great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Mae Grissom, Zoey Louise Austin, and Cooper Harold Austin. He also leaves to cherish his memory numerous extended family members and friends.

Raymond was born a few months before the beginning of the Great Depression and passed away in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Just as these two events profoundly impacted the world, Raymond’s history of a strong work ethic, dependability, sacrifice, generosity, honesty, caring for others, and serving the Lord impacted his family, friends, and even total strangers that needed a helping hand. Through his example and leadership as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, we became better people. We feel blessed that God let us be a part of his life!

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens with Reverend Tommy Bolan officiating.

Services will be live streamed at berryhillfh.com.
