Mrs. Elizabeth McPeake Coffman, age 90, passed away on Monday in Jackson. She was born July 1, 1929 in Henderson County to the late Chester and Audia Hayes McPeake. “Liz”, as she was lovingly called by all who knew her, married Cecil Clayton “Pete” Coffman on December 31, 1949. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1992. She was a retired teller at Community Bank. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Louise (Charlie) Walker. She is survived by a sister, Arba McPeake Milam Taylor and two brothers, Orbin Bell McPeake (Gail) and Charles Arthur McPeake (Sandra). Liz did not have any children of her own but she dearly loved her nieces and nephews. She carried them on vacations and made many costumes they had growing up. She was a faithful, longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. She was a great cook and seamstress. She crocheted, cross-stitched, made quilts and many other pieces that she shared and they will be cherished. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 10 AM at Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to Lebonheur Childrens Hospital in Memphis or the American Heart Association.
