Mark James Anthony, 60, died April 23, 2020, from complications due to undiagnosed cancer. He was born March 26, 1960 in Warren, Ohio, to Clyde and Colleen Anthony. He graduated from Howland High School and attended Youngstown State University. He was employed at United Launch Alliance (ULA) in Decatur as a Technician for over 20 years.
Mark was a volunteer with organizations that his children participated in, including coaching ball teams, flagging go-kart races, Huntsville Quarter Midget Association, Scholar’s Bowl, Punkin Center Volunteer Fire Department, and the Austin High School Band. He accepted Christ as his Savior in 1991 and was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. He especially enjoyed training young children to race quarter midget cars and was proud to be part of the Semper Fi Gold Star Racing Team.
Mark was a frequent blood donor and was proud to have donated a total of 161 pints in his lifetime. To honor his memory, ULA is holding a blood drive on May 7. Non-ULA employees are encouraged to take advantage of other opportunities to donate blood.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stephen. He is survived by his wife, Amanda; daughter, Emmalee; and son, Ryan, all of Decatur; his sister, Suzanne Anthony of Cleveland, Ohio; and his nieces and nephews: Jacob and Tiana Anthony, Spencer and Kyle Holsinger, and Martha Morales.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church at a later date.
