FLORENCE-On Wednesday, April 22 the City of Florence released a statement concerning a Scam Alert that has come to the attention of the city:
Scam Alert!
We have received reports of a scam this morning (Wednesday, April 22). This includes someone pretending to be with the Florence Utilities.
The caller may ask for payment through PayPal or bank account information and threaten to cut off service for non-payment. Please be advised that Florence Utilities will not call customers to ask for payment information and will not come to your house to evaluate an account.
If you have any concerns about your utility account, please call our Customer Service at 256-760-6512. If you are ever in question about a scam call or someone at your door, call the Florence Police Department at 256-760-6610 or 911.
