Evelyn Wander Davis Evelyn Wander Gregory Davis died in her home on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at the age of 100, just 32 days prior to her 101st birthday. She was born May 20, 1919, to Isaac Burton Gregory and Alice Frame Gregory and was married to Gilbert Golden Davis on December 12, 1938. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1988.

She was a homemaker and a master hand quilter. She quilted over 200 quilts for family and friends. Later in life she made potholders that were “mini quilts”. She was very generous with her potholders, giving to family and friends from Limestone County to Scotland. She loved music and singing, especially traditional American folk music and southern gospel. She had very strong convictions of fairness and doing the right thing!

She is survived by sons, Gilbert Gregory (Greg) Davis and wife Jane, Thomas Edwin (Tom) Davis and wife Peggy, Larry Lynn (Larry) Davis and wife Cynthia. Her youngest son, David Neal (Dave) Davis, preceded her in death.

She is survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 deceased grandson, 13 greatgrandchildren and 1 sister, Nelva Orlean Gregory Squires of Sutton WV, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was a lifelong member of the Methodist faith and a member of Cairo United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers are Bruce Davis, Trinity Davis, Weston Davis, Kevin Kendrick, Chance Davis, Haven Tomlin, Davis Tomlin and Kirk Hastings
