Sylvia Opal Mitchell Campbell McGuire passed away March 19, 2020.
She was born January 9, 1922 in Kenova, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Francis Parsley Mitchell. She was employed for 15 years at General Telephone Co. in Ashland Kentucky. She moved to Alabama in 1963 and retired from BellSouth Telephone Co. in Huntsville in 1986. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Twickenham Republican Women and Murphy Hill Baptist Church in Toney.
She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Lee McGuire, son Rev. Dr. Michael J. Campbell; two brothers Robert E. Mitchell, Jr. and Elmer Howard Mitchell of Kenova, WV, and a sister Norma Ola Hunt of Catlettsburg, KY. Surviving her are son Derek S. McGuire and wife Heather of Meridianville, AL; daughter-in-law Susan McGuire of Media, PA; sister Oleta Mae Siegle of Wayne W.V.; four grandsons Sean Campbell and wife Gail of Wilmington, DE, Drew Campbell of Media PA, Jonathan Mayer of New Jersey, Kaidan Lee McGuire of Meridianville, AL and one granddaughter her angel Paige Gabbi McGuire of Meridianville, AL and a long time friend and neighbor Pat Henson of Toney, AL; three great-grandchildren Brooke Campbell, Vera Rose Mayer and Valon Mayer.
The family is receiving friends on Sunday, March 22, 2020, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
