James Richard Garrett, age 73 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Elk River Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Franklin County on January 13, 1947 to the late Ray J. and Marie (Shoemate) Garrett Sr. Before his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football and westerns, but especially loved spending time with friends and family. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bartlett Garrett; and brother, Ray J. Garrett Jr. He is survived by his loving children, Vicky (Josh) Nickerson, Steve (Candace) Garrett of Cowan, and Joe Flowers of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nickerson, Kinsley Nickerson, Sloane Garrett, Ashley Flowers, Christopher Flowers, and Clayton Flowers; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
