TUSCUMBIA-On Thursday, February 20 Colbert County Sheriff Frank Williamson said warrants had been issued for Ashley Christina Mayfield, 26 of 117 McDaniel Road in Littleville and her husband a week ago but they have been unable to execute the warrants on charges of Child Abuse.
Christina Mayfield turned herself into the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday and according to the sheriff her husband is expected to turn himself in as well.
About a week and a half ago a child was reported missing and a 911 call made and Colbert County Deputies responded. Two construction works found the child as they were headed out to lunch. The child was found in a pasture about 2 miles from her home and had crossed through a wooded area to get into the pasture.
The two workers took the child back to the home they were working on and someone at the residence knew the child and contacted the child’s parents.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and notified the Department of Human Resources. According to Sheriff Williamson this child and two others children have been placed with DHR. The sheriff said this is the second time the child has wandered from home. the first time 911 was called but the child was found by the parents before law enforcement arrived.
Ashley Christina Mayfield remains in the Colbert County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
