Mr. Harold Lewis Reed, age 67 of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, February 1,2020 at Fayette Medical Center–DCH in Fayette, AL.
Harold Lewis was born on December 30,1952, in Lamar Co., AL. His parents were the late James Curtis Reed and Bessie Hooper Reed, both of Vernon. He was preceded in death by both parents; three sisters, Minnie Bell Reed, Cheryl Reed Walker, and Glenda Faye Reed; one brother, Gay Vee Reed; his niece, Sheresia Reed; and his nephew, Christain Reed.
Brother Harold was an active lifelong member of Vernon Chapel CME, and was a member on the steward board. He loved to sing in the choir and testify about the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ. He worked many years for the city of Vernon. He loved to feed people and hosted big BBQs for his friends and family. He also enjoyed telling jokes and fishing.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Saturday, 11:00-1:00 prior to the service.
Survivors include one son, Samuel Reed of Florida; one sister, Melanie Sparks of Vernon, AL; two brothers, James Reed Jr. of Flint, MI and Ricky Dale Reed of Winfield, AL; five nieces Keyoka Reed of Texas, Chanika Sparks of Vernon, AL, Rochelle Reed, Monica Reed, and Racheal Reed; five nephews, Timothy Reed of Tuscaloosa, AL, Jacob Reed of Florida, Joshua (Ashley) Sparks of Millport, AL, Jeremy Reed of Vernon, AL, and Demario Reed of Winfield, AL; and several great-nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
