Delora Mae Ward, 89, of Huntsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 29. Born in Sisseton, South Dakota to Emil and Alice Klemm, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna Meyers and Shirley Meemken; brothers, Lorne and Adrian Klemm; and her first husband, SFC Leroy J. Neis. She was a member of University Baptist Church in Huntsville. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, Lapidary, and silver smithing. As a member of North Alabama Woodcarvers Association, she participated in several shows for which she won awards for her carvings. She enjoyed teaching and sharing her skills with others. She danced with the Senior Center’s “Way Out of Line” dancers and won 9 Senior Ladies Pool Championships in the Alabama state finals. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert C. Ward of Madison; son, Allan Ward (Debbie); daughters, Renee Neis Darsey (Gary), Charlotte Ward Simmons (Dwaine), and Debora L. Neis; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family service.
