MUSCLE SHOALS– On Wednesday the Northwest Shoals Community College Cultural Affairs Committee and Patriot Peer Leaders held a Unity Celebration on the Shoals campus at 12 noon in the Hospitality Center to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There was a feature a special performance from 2019 Miss Alabama Tiara Pennington, an inspirational message from guest speaker Kaytrina P. Simmons, Florence City Council, District 1 the first black woman to hold this office , and music for the event was by the NW-SCC Show Choir.
