Mr. Max Bray Sr., age 86 of Dora passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Sumiton Church of God with burial in McCormack Cemetery. Pastor Victor Massey and Pastor Phillip Walker will officiate. Visitation will be 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the church. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Max was born in Empire, Alabama to James Curtis and Arizona Estelle Bray on December 26, 1933. He was a graduate of Corner High School. He married Mary Cox in 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. He worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for Griffin Wheel in Bessemer, Alabama, after which he and his son established Bray Machine, Inc. in Dora, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a licensed private pilot for many years and flew out of Jasper, Alabama. Preceding him in death were his daughter, Sherry Bray Lee; and brother, James Curtis Bray, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Bray of Dora; son, Max Bray, Jr. (Anita) of Dora; grandchildren, Nichole Walker (Phillip) of Sumiton, Jamie Hudson (Christopher) of Dora, Joshua Bray of Dora, Mary Katherine Roberts of Dora, Jordan Bray of Dora, Brandon Lee of Dora and Curtis Lee of Dora; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
