Melba Ruth Moore, 74, passed away on December 29, 2019. Ms. Moore was born on December 27, 1945, in Cullman, Alabama, to Elbert and Ardes (Speegle) Moore. She was a 1964 graduate of Eva High School. After raising three children, she went to college and obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Athens State University in 1999 and served as a sales tax auditor for the State of Alabama for 14 years.

She was a talented seamstress, making clothing, quilts, blankets, and various works of art for loved ones. Ms. Moore cooked full course southern meals better than anyone around, and she prided herself in her flower beds and gardening. She cruised to Hawaii and visited New York City.

She spent the majority of her life on the beloved family farm where she was raised. Her father was a well-respected farmer of cotton, corn, hogs, poultry, and cattle.

She had a great passion for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and asked that in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to St. Jude’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Doyce Wayne Moore.

She leaves behind two brothers, Harold (Donna) Moore and Royce (Susan) Moore; three children, Rhonda (Allen) Hayes, Cheryl (Butch) French, and Bryan (Dana) Beck; and three grandchildren.
