U.S. Space & Rocket Center, University of North Alabama Sign Agreement

Image result for us space and rocket center logo  HUNTSVILLE – The U.S. Space & Rocket Center and the University of North Alabama today signed an agreement connecting the two entities for the purpose of promoting learning and workforce development in North Alabama.

“This comprehensive learning agreement between the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and UNA benefits both organizations tremendously by providing pathways to degree attainment for Space and Rocket Center employees and unique learning opportunities in a world-renowned facility for current and future UNA students,” said Dr. Ross Alexander, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. “This learning agreement with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center exemplifies UNA’s commitment to STEM education and workforce development.”

 

With the agreement, UNA will assist in training Rocket Center employees in areas including nursing, public history, education, and human resources. Additionally, UNA will also promote its educational opportunities as well as potential campus visits to Space Camp student.

The Rocket Center in return may actively recruit UNA students for paid internships as well as employment opportunities. The current agreement also lays the foundation for future collaborations with UNA’s outstanding public history programs and the Rocket Center, a proud Smithsonian Affiliate  museum.

 

“This will bring public history and museum studies capabilities to our staff and other museums studies students,” Dr. Barnhart said. “We look forward to engaging deeply in the history of North Alabama by leveraging the expertise of UNA faculty.”
