Phona Ray “Pony” Holland, 88, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI after a long journey with Alzheimers/Dementia. Phona was born October 19, 1931 in Hurricane Creek in Franklin County AL. He served in the Korean War from July, 1952 to June, 1954 as a Sargeant in USAR Infantry Signal Corp. He worked as a wholesale truck driver, machinist, maintenance mechanic and had a love of woodworking, “whittling”, playing the guitar and banjo, crossword puzzles, reading and travel.
Services will be Saturday, December 7, 12 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Jerry Humphries officiating. Burial will be in Berry Cemetery, Red Bay, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his daughter – Melody Kay Wolwark (Jeff), Waukegan, IL; son – Roy Gene West, Vina, AL; son-in-law – L.V. Russell, Vina, AL; granddaughters -Jennifer Bingham (Ryan), Kenosha, WI, Debbie Aldridge (Joel), Vina, AL, Cindy Friend (Randy), Wadsworth, IL; one grandson – Matthew Wolwark of Indiana; great-grandchildren -Benjamin Bingham, Noah Bingham, Seth Bingham, Samantha Jones, Joel Bruce Aldridge (Truly), Daryl Ray Aldridge, Duell Russell Aldridge, Danielle Sadovi (Igor) and Eric Friend; great-great-grandchildren – Addyson Aldridge, Declan Aldridge and Kai Aldridge and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Esther Irene Holland, parents, James Jefferson and Dona Isabelle Holland, daughter, Carolyn Russell, great- granddaughter, Stacie Marie Aldridge, brother, Roy Holland, sisters, Roxie Singleton, Clarice Jackson, Nellie Humphres and Cleta Ozbirn.
Thank you to all the staff, nurses, CNA’s at Hospice Alliance who made Dad’s last few months and moments comfortable and peaceful with a genuine caring spirit. A special “thank you” to his hospice team, Julie Feuerbach, Elaine Lewis, Charlie Hansen and Alec Fuhrer.

Visitation will be Saturday December 7, 10-12 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
