FRANKLIN COUNTY-On Wednesday, December 4 the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued a statement concerning a the death of one person who was involved in a two-vehicle accident:
On 12/4/2019 at 5:15 AM Trooper Lamarcus Baker responded to a 2-vehicle crash on AL. 24 and County Road 23 in Franklin County. The crash involved a 2011 Suzuki Equator pickup truck driven by Jacob Destin Cox of Red Bay, AL. and a 2001 Peterbilt tractor trailer driven by John Wayne Hill of Pontotoc, Cox was killed in the crash and Hill was transported to Red Bay Hospital with minor injuries.
Cox was crossing southbound on AL. 24 when he was struck on the passenger side. The eastbound lanes of AL. 24 were closed for a short time and reopened. The crash occurred 15 miles west of Russellville, AL.
The crash remains under investigation by the Quad Cities Trooper Post.
