Mary Frances Stowers, age 92, of Huntsville, passed away on October 27, 2019. Mrs. Stowers was born in Montgomery, AL, but lived in Huntsville since 1968. In Huntsville, she was formerly a member of First Baptist where she taught children’s Sunday School. Later she was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church. She worked at Crestwood Hospital and later at Castner Knott and Dillard’s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joe Stowers, former Superintendent of Huntsville City Schools back in the 70’s; parents, Thomas Calvin Embry and Corinna Hall Embry; and brother, Tom Embry. Survivors include her daughter, Jane Stowers Baker (Ronnie) of Huntsville; son, Tim Stowers (Gaye) of Summit, Mississippi; brother, Robin Embry of Montgomery; sister, Shirley Wideman of Colorado; five grandchildren, Lindsay Baker, Courtnay Baker McGinness (Charlie), TJ Stowers, Lee Stowers and Zach Baker (Alizbeth); and five great-grandchildren, Adalin, Grady, Levi, Baker and Luna.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29 at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus.

Memorial gifts may be made to Whitesburg Baptist Church for the Children’s Renovation Project, 6806 Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville, AL 35802.
