Joy Kelly died on October 12, 2019 in Huntsville, Alabama. Joy Marion Milsaps, daughter of Kathleen (Reed) and Gentry E. Milsaps, was born in Blount, Tennessee. She married William Kelly in Maryville, Tennessee; he preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, John (Barbara) Kelly.
Joy attended Maryville College and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she earned her teaching degree. She belonged to Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She was an Elementary School Teacher and taught Bible School at Mayfair Church of Christ where she was a long-time member. She was interested in history, reading, genealogy, wildflowers, and loved taking care of her flowers. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Royal Order of the Garter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
