On Thursday, October 10, 2019, Eugene F. Drass, Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 73. Gene was born on May 7, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to Gene, Sr. and Helen Drass (née Kane). He attended St James High School in Chester, PA and went on to earn an engineering degree from Temple University. He worked with his father and his brother for years in construction, building among others the very first Wawa convenience store in Folsom, PA. He went on then to work for Bechtel Construction building nuclear power plants throughout the country and worked with the cleanup at the Hanford Site in WA.
Gene had a passion for his family, the Catholic church and classical music. His steady presence and calm demeanor were the rock upon which his family was built. Gene loved to read to his grandchildren and taught many of them how to read themselves.
Gene is survived by his loving wife Marie (née Juliano); his sons, Charles (Brenda), Dave (Karen), and Chris (Tara); his daughters, Kelly, Kim and Kristy (Scott Anderson); his brothers, Dennis (Tina) and Gerry (Terri); and nine grandchildren, Christopher, Alexa, Maya, Nick, Zach, Phillip, Arielle, Morgan, and Molly.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (625 Airport Rd SW, Huntsville, AL 35802) followed by Mass at 10.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gene’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
