Pat Crook, 78, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, October 10th, at her home surrounded by her caring and devoted family. She vigorously and courageously fought her battle with cancer, shunning all pity. She was spirited, loving, and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend.
Pat, Patty or Nana, as she was known to family and friends, was born Pricilla Kathryn Dubee on June 25, 1941 in Bridgeport, CT to Arthur Joseph and Doris Emma Hurley Dubee. She was the oldest of four sisters, Betty Redmond of Alexandria, LA, Doris Rowell of Corinth, TX, and Michelle Greeven (John) of Corvallis, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Adria Crook (Jon). She is survived by her college sweetheart and loving husband, Paul; her children, Ricky (Kay), Pam, Jon, and Andy (Cindy); her grandchildren, Nick (Emily), Allie, Nevelyn, Katie, Lexie and Drew; and her sisters.
Pat grew up in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She graduated from Stoneham High School in 1959 and attended Boston University. She moved to Pineville, LA with her family and continued her education, graduating from Louisiana College with a BS in Physical Education.
Pat and Paul were married for 55 years. As the mother of four children, she earned an honorary MBA for her extraordinary accomplishments of child rearing and household management. Being known as Nana to her six grandchildren was her greatest joy in life. Her loving devotion and care for her granddaughter, Katie, who has special needs, was an example for all to behold.
Most Sunday mornings you would find Pat cooking a family breakfast. She was known for hosting family gatherings, swim parties, and holidays at her home. Her back porch was a gathering place for all. She was generous with her time, giving support and nourishing many bodies and souls. She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and a faithful servant of God. After retiring from EchoTek Corporation, Pat volunteered at Crestwood Hospital.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14th, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (13550 Chaney Thompson Road, SE).
