Funeral services for Mrs. Willene D. Upchurch, age 86 of Lineville, will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Barfield Baptist Church with Bro. John Howell and Dr. Ben Character officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Upchurch passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Regional Medical Center in Anniston. A lifelong resident of Clay County and last remaining of 9 children, she was a graduate of Lineville High School where she was part of the Beta and Drama Clubs. She worked at Higgins Manufacturing for four years but spent most of her life as a homemaker. Many days were spent helping on the farm bailing hay, caring for the chickens, cooking, gardening and crocheting blankets. She was also a member of Barfield Baptist Church for over 75 years where she taught Children’s Sunday School, Bible School, served as the church clerk for several years and sang in the choir until she was unable to do so.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Upchurch of Lineville; two sons, David Upchurch of Lineville and Larry Upchurch (Debbie) of Lineville; seven grandchildren, Randall Upchurch (Tiffany), Jason Upchurch (BriAnna), Christopher Upchurch (Jordyn), Russell Upchurch (Melanie) all of Lineville, Cody Ginn (Alex) of Phoenix, AZ, Haley Morris (Dylan) and Dylan Upchurch both of Lineville; seven great-grandchildren, Bence Upchurch, Aiden Upchurch, Cager Upchurch, Camden Upchurch, Bryson Upchurch, Charles Levi Upchurch and Clayton Addison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William E Denson and Ursula Hendrix Denson; 3 sisters, Lucille Dickenson, Martha Moncus and Esther Upchurch; five brother, Lindsay Denson, Elvert Denson, Robert Denson, J.W. Denson and Olen Denson.
Family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30 until 8:00 on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 and until service time on Thursday.
